Back to Directory Combat Exploit Patch Spec

AntiCrystalAndAnchor Spec

A network packet interceptor designed to prevent explosion damage exploits against protected and newbie players. Developed and maintained by AdithyaDev.

Problem

Standard combat managers (such as PvPManager) protect newbie players or users with PvP toggled off from direct weapon strikes. However, they frequently fail to block environmental damage sources caused by other players, allowing malicious actors to detonate End Crystals or Respawn Anchors near protected users to bypass combat protections.

Architecture

Instead of disabling Crystals or Anchors globally, this patch monitors damage events at the network level. When an explosion packet triggers, the plugin maps the source player and queries the status of nearby targets. If any target in the explosion radius has PvP disabled or is under newbie protection, the damage allocation is cancelled for that specific player entity.

Technical Highlights

  • Targeted Protection Gating: Disables explosion damage only for protected players while leaving active combatants affected.
  • Exploit Patch Integration: Hooks directly into newbie protection timers and PvP states to ensure unified state tracking.
  • Protocol Interception: Operates with low latency to process explosion radius checks without performance drops.

Results

  • Exploit Mitigated: Eliminates bypass griefing methods at spawn and wild boundaries.
  • Vanilla Combat Maintained: Normal End Crystal and Respawn Anchor combat continues to function properly for active fighters.
